Guardsmen

by Fabrice Schomberg

The green guardsmen guarded white walls and the white guardsmen guarded green trees. In the white walls lived men, women, children and grandparents and in the green trees lived squirrels, birds, apes and bees.

Usually the grandparents told the green guardsmen what to do and sometimes men and women would come to the trees to try and eat the bees honey which is when the bees would help the white guardsmen. The birds would eat nuts and the squirrels would hide them, then the apes would find them and the children would play with them. This is how they all lived.

Sometimes the green guardsmen would fight with the white guardsmen because the children grew up and wanted to build white walls instead of the trees, and sometimes the white guardsmen fought with the green guardsmen because the trees grew in the white walls, but the grandparents told them to stop because the white guardsmen also lived in the white walls as did their wives and children.

So more and more white walls were built and less and less trees were for the bees and the rest were imprisoned in cages they called zoos.
